What Is Scientific Friday Bar?
Scientific Friday Bar is a recurring, informal session where people discuss real AI use cases. Each session is hosted by one organization, a company or a research institution, on its own premises, so the discussion stays close to the host's actual work and data. The host presents one concrete case: a working AI workflow that needs scrutiny, or a problem still looking for a solution. The room brings together the host's technical and domain staff with external data scientists. The host provides the venue and the drinks; attending is free. Sessions are capped at around 20 participants, invited from the registration pool.
Format
Domain-Specific Talks & Discussion
A plain-language talk on a concrete problem - e.g. a challenge that AI could help solve - followed by open discussion. Just needs a screen or projector on the host's side.
Focused Introduction
The first 15 minutes are reserved for the talk, uninterrupted, so the core idea lands clearly.
Relaxed Atmosphere
Music picks up later in the evening, easing into a more informal, social setting.
Refreshments Provided
Complimentary drinks, including beer, and a selection of snacks.
Exclusive & Managed Attendance
Free to attend, but registration is required - capped at 10-20 participants to keep it engaging.
Broad Accessibility (Optional)
Sessions can be livestreamed on YouTube, reaching people beyond the room.

Why I Started This
I've been a scientist for many years, and one of the best things about being a scientist is that you meet many people and get to discuss - and try to solve - interesting, intellectually demanding, important, yet genuinely fun problems. These discussions usually happen after work, and the best ideas often come out of an informal chat in a cafe or a bar. Now everyone agrees that AI is the next big thing, but the real question is: what do we actually do with it to make things better? Let's start where the impact is most measurable - improving how real organizations work. That's the mission of Scientific Friday Bar, and I'm looking forward to seeing you at the upcoming sessions!
